Neurosurgery
Dr Ray Cook
Dr Cook is a neurosurgeon at Royal North Shore Hospital, North Shore Private Hospital Mater Misericordiae and Gosford Hospital. He is Chair of the Sydney Neuro-Oncology Group and helped to establish the ABTB in 2003.
Dr Stephen Honeybul
Dr Honeybul is a Consultant Neurosurgeon and Head of Department at Royal Perth Hospital, with subspecialist interest in neurovascular surgery.
Both Dr Cook and Dr Honeybul will provide crucial clinical expertise and assist AGOG in patient recruitment, clinical data and biospecimen collection.
Radiation Oncology
Dr Phillip Yuile
Dr Yuile is a Consultant in Radiation Oncology at the Sydney Radiotherapy and Oncology Centre and will work closely with Professor David Joseph as part of the Clinical Outcomes Scientific Research Group.
Medical Oncology
Dr Elizabeth Hovey
Dr Hovey is a Medical Oncologist at Prince of Wales Hospital, Chair of the COSA neuro-oncology group, Secretary of the COGNO Cooperative Group, Deputy Chair of the NSW Cancer Institute Neuro-Oncology Group, and Project Officer for the Australian Cancer Network neuro-oncology guidelines for the management of adult patients with Glioma. She is also the NSW Chief Investigator for the EORTC-TROG Low Grade Glioma Study. Dr Hovey is a key contact to the various Australasian neuro-oncology networks and will contribute to patient recruitment and the Clinical Outcomes Scientific Research Group.
Neuropathology
Dr Michael Rodriguez
Dr Rodriguez is a specialist neuropathologist at the Central Sydney Laboratory Service. He will provide key expertise in the pathological review and development of diagnostic techniques in HGG, as well as link AGOG to other Australian neuropathologists.
Dr Vicki Fabian
Dr Fabian is a Consultant Neuropathologist at PathWest, and will provide important clinical expertise and point-of-contact with the pathology community.
Neuroradiology
Dr Michael Bynevelt
Dr Bynevelt is a Consultant Neuroradiologist for The Diagnostic & Therapeutic Neuro-Imaging Service of WA at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital. A New Zealander, he is Head of Training for the WA Radiology Training Program, a member of the RANZCR and a Part II Examiner. Dr Bynvelet's interests include functional, vascular and tumour neuroimaging and he will contribute greatly to the neuroimaging data collection and clinical interpretation.
Genetic Epidemiology
Julie Marsh (nee Moss)
Julie is a Chartered Statistician (Royal Statistical Society, UK) with interests in statistical methodology related to missing data, high-order gene-gene interactions and pharmacogenomics. She has been Section Head for Glaxo Wellcome and was seconded to the Boston Consulting Group during the merger, where she advised on common working practices and process redesign based on best drug development practices. She has worked in all phases (I-IV) of clinical trials, with a specialty in Phase 1; in particular pharmacokinetic and pharmcodynamic modelling. Her current research aims are to evaluate the relationship of prenatal and childhood phenotypes to genotypes associated with cancer, using mixed environmental and genetic models based on an understanding of the lifelong developmental processes.
Consumer Representative
Denis Strangman
Mr Strangman will provide an invaluable link between AGOG and the brain tumour community. He is a former carer to wife Margaret who passed away in 2001 from a GBM and has been very active in establishing patient support resources, establishing international links and campaigning for patient access to treatments. Mr Strangman is currently Chair of the International Brain Tumour Alliance (IBTA).
